Only fitted carpeting has to touch the walls. Whereas, um, "traditional" carpets are, well, basically large examples of what you already imagine rugs to be - basically, a rug created with the intention of covering at least a large area of the floor. The only formal difference between non-fitted carpets and rugs, you see, is size, and I know this because I recently had this very argument about a carpet that currently takes up a significant portion of the living room.<br /><br />That being said, it seems to me that, even by traditional definitions, Carpet still isn't a carpet at all, because he's so tiny.
